Lego birthday

Richard loves his Lego, so what better thing than a really Lego birthday for him.

Lego used to offer a service called Design by Me. A website to create your very own Lego item, in custom box with instructions and all the right parts.  They stopped offering this service on 30 January 2012.  It was a shame but I can see why they stopped. It was so very complex to design on the computer, taken through a 3D model like a CAD, placing each Lego piece with a click of a button.  Not being a Lego designer, it was difficult not to mention frustrating. I had two days to do it in with kids clinging to my legs and shouting. It is any wonder I managed it at all.
Anyway, it came, it was wonderful.   Richard thought that you just gave Lego a picture and that they created it, he had no idea the tears shed and long frustrated phone calls to Lego when they told me to replace any 2x6 black blocks as they were out of stock.  You couldn't just click replace, you had to unbuild it all and replace manually.

Here is his face and his likeness.  Love the custom box with design on and the 50 page instruction booklet (which was kind of warped as it does it in the order you created on the computer, which if you are tweaking gave everything in the wrong order!).

I also made some Lego lollies for him.

He is 37 but show me a man (woman or child) who doesn't love Lego.
